Bristol Area Parenting Workshops Available from Bristol's Promise
 
To help folks who are parenting and their children work through the challenges life throws at them, Bristol’s Promise is offering free, five-week parenting workshops that have proven to be enjoyable and effective for participants.

Both workshops are free and include workshop materials, and sometimes child care and healthy meals, but pre-registration is required. For more information or to register for a workshop, please call Samantha Gray at (423) 878-8359, or visit www.bristolspromise.org .

The workshops are made possible by a partnership of Bristol’s Promise Youth Networking Alliance, Bristol Regional Medical Center, Junior League of Bristol and YWCA of Bristol.

GUIDING GOOD CHOICES Parenting Workshop Information:

Folks parenting children who are in fourth through ninth grades can participate in the Guiding Good Choices for Parents workshops.  

"Guiding Good Choices" parenting workshop program is a science-based, proven-effective ATOD-prevention program that gives parents the skills they need to ensure the future well-being of their children.  Participants in Guiding Good Choices workshops will learn how to strengthen family bonds through family meetings and fun activities together, help kids say no to drugs and resist peer pressure, set family guidelines and manage anger and family conflicts. 
 
Join the many parents who have already participated in this workshop and enjoyed networking with other parents. If you have a pre-teen or teen ages 9-14, then this is the workshop for you.

IN JUST FIVE ONCE-A-WEEK TWO-HOUR WORKSHOPS, LEARN HOW TO:


  • Strengthen family bonds Hold family meetings and have family fun
  • Help kids say no to drugs and resist peer pressure
  • Set family guidelines with new parenting skills and techniques
  • Manage anger and family conflicts

SUPPORTING SCHOOL SUCCESS Parenting Workhop Information:
 
Participants in Supporting School Success workshops will learn how to support their children’s academic achievement, improve communication at home and reduce misbehavior, and they will have the opportunity to network with others and share best parenting practices. Children will participate in a parallel “Kid’s Kamp.”"Supporting School Success" parenting workhops program is a research-based parent involvement program for parents of children in grades K-3 learn how to support their child's academic achievement, improve communication at home, and reduce misbehavior. 
 
Join the many parents who have already participated in this workshop and enjoyed networking with other parents. If you have a pre-schooler or child ages 4-8, then this is the workshop for you.  
 
IN JUST FIVE ONCE-A-WEEK TWO-HOUR WORKSHOPS, LEARN HOW TO:
  • Help your child do better in school during the first four years; make homework time less stressful, more productive
  • Apply practical skills to help improve communication and reduce misbehavior
  • Help your children develop a positive attitude and love of learning and help the family recapture time together and play
