Bristol's Promise Organizational Strategic Plan
VISION & MISSION:
Vision: Bristol's children and youth are healthy, feel safe, develop marketable skills, have relationships with caring adults, and give back to the community.
Mission: Mobilize the Bristol TN/VA community to fulfill its promise to meet the basic needs of each child while promoting the development of their character, faith and educational potential.
Bristol TN/VA, named a Community of Promise in the Fall of 2001, is committed to building a network of partnerships around providing our youth access to the Five Promise Areas of America's Promise. Bristol’s Promise holds in trust the assessment and planning process for Bristol TN/VA children and youth. Bristol’s Promise is a catalyst, change agent that facilitates the community to look at the big picture when assessing and planning for children and youth needs.
GOALS:
GOAL ONE: FOSTER POSITIVE CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT FOR DEVELOPING FUTURE GENERATIONS -
Create a cultural environment where our community has a clear understanding about the situations children and youth face coupled with fostering those effective systemic strategies needed to address both the symptoms and the roots of those situations.
Guiding strategies will include raising awareness, encouraging adoption of new ideas, persistent and pervasive communications, and ensuring most current thinking and proven methodologies are employed based on current and accurate information.
GOAL TWO: BEST PRACTICES -
Bring to the Bristol community leading approaches to identifying the needs and priorities of children and youth and meeting those with leading asset and evidence-based programs, skilled and trained individuals, and effective planning, assessment and continual re-evaluation of priorities and approaches.
GOAL THREE: BRISTOL TN/VA COMMUNITY NETWORKING AND PARTNER -
Serve as Bristol’s community clearinghouse and networking body that encourages partnerships and collaborations and broadens opportunities through community-wide communications and media efforts, common data and language tools, intra-agency referrals, funding opportunities, and regular information exchange.
GOAL FOUR: SUSTAINABILITY -
Ensure that the five promises of Bristol’s Promise are secured in our community by holding in trust the assessment plan, ensuring dedicated commitment and financial support, launching and/or filling in programming gaps for future community adoption, and delivering successful results for our children, youth and community
OBJECTIVES:
GOAL ONE:
- Gain understanding of the current climate
- Benchmark community position against other communities for future thinking
- Identify key stakeholders, evolve stakeholder role with Sites of Promise
- Identify key barriers to change
- Develop strategic plan for approaches to enlist stakeholders, circumvent/defeat barriers and engage new ideas in the community
- Use information, identified common language to develop public relations strategic campaign
- Educate and lead donors in clear understanding of children and youth concerns and needs
GOAL TWO:
- Survey needs and prioritize
- Conduct planning process and develop road map
- Identify existing programs to broaden or expand to meet needs
- Evaluate and identify new programs to meet needs
- Train individuals on program to be broadened or new programs
- Reassess programs quarterly and return to needs to review changes
GOAL THREE:
- Set up regular meetings and share opportunities among organizations serving Bristol’s children and youth
- Establish electronic communication exchange through websites, email networks, and online groups
- Create brochure for use for making parent referrals
- Identify potential funders for selected evidence-based programs
- Develop common language and data from community-wide survey results
- Identify and promote training opportunities
- Identify location for the clearinghouse
GOAL FOUR:
- Create and fill a board of maintenance and operating schedule
- Undertake strategic planning quarterly evaluations and results measurement
- Identify qualified staffing and appropriate organization location
- Filling in programming gaps until filled otherwise
- Create budget and identify and meet funding needs
