Bristol Youth Present Top Ten List
Thursday, January 27, 2005 - The Bristol's Promise Youth Involvement Workgroup met with a group of youth to put together a "Top Ten List."  They presented this list during the Unveiling Ceremony of the Community Action Plan on March 10, 2005.  Here are the "Top Ten" things that Bristol Youth wish for:

Top Ten List

  1. Increased availability of arts/drama/music programs
  1. More after school programs for elementary ages
  1. More diverse sport teams such as lacrosse, rugby, etc
  1. Some kind of teen center, directly targeting middle school ages
  1. Provide mentor opportunities in all areas, especially to prepare students for life after high school
  1. Leisure services younger than 3rd grade
  1. Remove peer pressure risk factors
  1. More service opportunities for youth
  1. Develop some kind of funding or scholarships for children and youth to participate in after school programs like scouts, sports, fine arts, etc. The desire to participate is not matched with the resources to attend.
  1. Less intensive and less costly sport opportunities (similar to the Upward Bound Basketball program)

America's Promise: America's Promise is a collaborative network that builds upon the collective power of communities and partners to help fulfill the Five Promises for every young person in America.
